FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What do I wear?

Something light weight and comfortable. You will be going upside down so you may want a to wear a shirt that isn’t too loose. Don’t worry about shoes or socks. We will all be bare foot

What do I need?

It is highly recommended for hygiene purposes that you bring your own mat. You can rent a mat at the studio for $1. We do sell mats at the studio for your convenience.

Bring water or you can purchase a bottle at the studio for $1.

Bring a towel or you can rent one at the studio for a $1.

I’ve never done yoga. Where do I start?

Awesome! Grab a mat and even bring a friend so you can support each other. Any one can practice yoga as long as modifications are done to accommodate for an individual’s needs. Be compassionate with yourself and stop worrying. We all have to start somewhere. In no time you will notice muscles you didn’t realize you had and an increase in focus, stamina and flexibility. If you are really unsure a few private classes would be a great benefit.

Can beginner’s attend classes?

Always. We offer All Levels classes and Power Yoga Basics. We encourage you to pace yourself and listen to your body. For best results try coming 3 times a week for 3 weeks.

Will class be challenging for me?

Yes. You will decide how hard or easy it will be in each pose and throughout the process. Your first few classes may be difficult. No matter what your age or experience level, this yoga will take you to your edge and pull out more of you than you ever thought possible.

Worried about your level of experience compared to others?

We are all where we need to be. Never compare or compete with yourself or others and learn to accept where you are without judgement. Practice yoga for the person on your mat. Let go of your ego, expectations and limitations and come into your most powerful self.

How hot is it?

The room is heated to 90 degrees. Welcome the heat, stay hydrated and listen to your body throughout every practice. Yin Yoga is 80 degrees.

How often should I practice?

Consistency is the key to success. For best results, 4-6 days a week. For a gradual transformation, 2-3 days a week. Start practicing and see what fits for you.

What if I’m not that flexible or strong?

So what! Just show up with a flexible mind. All you need to do is focus on sweating, breathing, moving, and respecting your limitations. Soon the tension, and sometimes fear will release and your range of motion will naturally increase.

Does power yoga incorporate meditation?

Integrating your breath through a powerfully, physical flow, will take you right out of that voice in your head. In moving our bodies with breath we create space in our minds. This allows us to create stillness and peace where ever we are, what ever the circumstances.

Can children attend classes?

Yes, with a parent. We recommend ages 10 and up. Children always add an element of joy and curiosity that we can all learn from.

Is it safe to practice while I’m pregnant?

As with any exercise program, check with your physician and listen to your body.  It is not a good idea to start a yoga practice as a beginner when you are pregnant. If you had a strong practice before you became pregnant, it will help. There are some poses such as inversions and lying on the belly that are truly contraindicated for pregnancy. Since we practice in a heated room it is best to discuss with your physician your interest in starting or continuing your yoga practice. We will always be here ready to welcome you back. So take care of your self and your baby.
